After a pandemic pause, ALFA is once again holding our annual fundraiser - Farm Art. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for ALFA’s program, the Foothills Area Harm Reduction Mission (the Farm), as well as promote awareness about overdose and substance use disorder in our community.
Art has been donated by many talented local artists, and is available for pick up at Steve's Place @ 211 NC S 127, Hickory Monday - Friday 9am - 4 pm.
Since its launch in 2018, the Farm has provided overdose prevention/response education, naloxone kits, community referrals for support, and safer drug use supplies to prevent HIV, Hepatitis C and other harmful consequences of drug use. We are now providing services to over 400 people monthly.
In 2023, the Farm provided 4,500 services to over 1500 individuals, including distributing over 3,200 overdose reversal kits, with 635 reversals reported to us. This is in addition to ALFA’s other services: case management and financial assistance to people living with HIV, testing and linkage to care for HIV, Hep C and STIs and PrEP/PEP. All told, ALFA provides direct services to almost 3,500 individuals every year and conducts more than 150 sexual health education programs.

Peter Milne is a retired furniture designer with a consuming love of making things. He has made airplanes, sailboats, hang gliders, workshop/studios, and smaller stuff of paper, acrylic and wood. He has drawn, painted, sawn and glued his way to happiness.
Graduating from RISD in 1959, his recent show reflects some of the fun of his basic art courses. “I especially liked the one where we glued sticks together.” Peter’s hanging wood and rice paper constructions are like that.
Abstract acrylic paintings complete the show. A very personal sense of color and composition tie together some different painting styles. The result is fun.
