If you are uninsured and local, we can get you connected to PrEP at our Prevention Services office at 211 NC 127 S Hickory, NC.
PrEP is a daily medication that can reduce your risk of contracting HIV by about 99% through sex and 74% through injection drug use.
ALFA can assist you in getting PrEPed. Our services include:
- Patient Navigation Services
- PrEP initiation lab work
- linkage to teleprep services
- linkage to local providers
- financial assistance for labs and office visits
- assistance in enrolling in the ACA Marketplace/Obamacare
- access to affordable medications
- PEP access

What is PrEP?
PrEP is a daily medication that can reduce your risk of contracting HIV from sex by about 99%.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a way for people who do not have HIV but who are at substantial risk of getting it to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day. The pill contains two medicines that are used in combination with other medicines to treat HIV. When someone is exposed to HIV through sex or injection drug use, these medicines can work to keep the virus from establishing a permanent infection.
